Online A-Level Tutor

Shariq Hussain teaches Cambridge International AS & A-Level students live and one-to-one over video, wherever they are in the world. If you are looking for an online A-Level maths tutor, or a Cambridge A-Level tutor online who knows the CAIE syllabus paper by paper, every session is built around the exact syllabus code you are sitting, not a generic course.

Shariq has been tutoring since 1999 — over 27 years of one-to-one experience — and works with school students and private candidates preparing for Cambridge International (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel International A Level examinations. Online students join from Pakistan, the Gulf, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Cambridge A-Level Subjects Taught Online

Core online tutoring is offered in the following Cambridge AS & A-Level subjects. Each is taught against its own syllabus code, past papers and mark schemes:

  • Mathematics (9709) — Pure Mathematics P1, P2 and P3, Mechanics (P4), and Probability & Statistics (P5, P6).
  • Further Mathematics (9231) — Further Pure, Further Mechanics, and Further Probability & Statistics.
  • Physics (9702) — theory papers plus practical skills, planning and analysis (Papers 3 and 5).
  • Computer Science (9618) — theory, programming and NEA-style project support. See the A-Level Computer Science tutor page.

Edexcel International A Level Mathematics and Physics are also covered. The full syllabus list is on the Subjects & Courses page.

Online A-Level Maths Tutor: What Is Covered

Sessions cover every topic an A-Level Mathematics candidate is examined on, taught in depth and then applied to past-paper questions:

  • Pure Mathematics — algebra, functions, quadratics, coordinate geometry, circular measure, trigonometry, series, logarithmic and exponential functions, differentiation, integration, numerical solution of equations, vectors, differential equations and complex numbers.
  • Mechanics — explained from first principles for students who are not taking Physics.
  • Probability & Statistics — from data presentation through to the distributions examined at AS and A Level.

How Online A-Level Sessions Work

Booking takes a few minutes and everything is done online:

  1. Choose your session — one-to-one online (or a small group of 2–4 students), then your level and subject(s).
  2. Pick a date and time — available slots are shown in your own local time zone, so there is no conversion to do.
  3. Pay the session fee online — see payment options, or choose pay later and confirm with payment proof on WhatsApp.
  4. Receive your meeting link on the WhatsApp number you provide.
  5. Meet Shariq live for your first evaluation session.

Standard sessions are 40 minutes. The first meeting is a paid evaluation session per subject, used to find out where you currently stand, agree a study plan against your exam date, and decide how often to meet. Current rates are on the fees page.

Exam Preparation That Goes Beyond the Syllabus

Online sessions are not lecture recordings. Working live with Shariq, students get:

  • Topic-by-topic teaching matched to the syllabus code, with definitions and formulas for each topic.
  • Chapter-wise exercises and easy-to-follow solutions to past paper questions.
  • Exam technique: reading the question, managing time, and calculator usage.
  • Revision planning and timetable support leading up to May-June and Oct-Nov series.
  • Live question-and-answer, so a stuck topic is resolved in the session rather than after it.

Whether you need a full-year course, a crash revision block, or last-minute exam help, the plan is set around your paper dates.

Before Your First Session

You will need a laptop or tablet with a stable internet connection, a scientific calculator, and paper for written working. Computer Science students should have a laptop with a suitable IDE installed. No special software is required for Maths or Physics.
